Football stars largely dominate the ranking of the most popular athletes on Instagram. With more than 600 million subscribers each, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are in the lead, far ahead of the competition.
Among the 20 athletes with the most fans on the social network, no less than 15 are footballers. And three of these football players are Brazilian: Neymar, Marcelo and Vinicius Junior. Respectively 4th, 8th and 18th in the ranking, they demonstrate the immense enthusiasm that Brazilian football arouses throughout the world.

Neymar, with his 217 million subscribers, ranks just behind Virat Kohli (3rd) in the ranking. The PSG striker, very active on Instagram, maintains a special link with his community of supporters thanks to the photos and videos of his professional and personal life that he shares on a daily basis.
Another well-placed Brazilian, Marcelo is in 8th place with 66.2 million admirers. The 35-year-old left back, who will play the Club World Cup final with Fluminense after a rich career at Real Madrid, can count on his popularity acquired over many years at the highest level.
Finally, the young nugget Vinicius Junior already has 43.5 million subscribers at just 22 years old. His breathtaking season with Real Madrid and his place in the Brazil team definitively launched his career, allowing his notoriety to explode on social networks.
