In his own words, he shared his thoughts with Sky Italia, saying,

“The end of my career is approaching and it’s not a simple thing. I have to think if I stop, or if I continue and where I go. There’s the family, I have two sons who play at Chelsea”

Thiago Silva, the experienced Brazilian defender, made his move to Chelsea back in 2020, initially as a short-term solution. However, as we fast forward to the present, he has solidified his position as an integral component of the team’s defense.

“At the moment I could take this opportunity to play and make the most of this last year of my contract at Chelsea. But I’m very happy and proud of the career I’ve had, of what I’m doing now at 39 years old”

While the likes of Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, and Levi Colwill are poised to take charge of Chelsea’s defense in the future, Silva’s potential retirement at the end of this campaign could leave a significant void. He is on track to be remembered as a legend in the world of football.

As Silva has aged, his prowess on the field hasn’t diminished, and he recently etched his name into the record books by playing in 87 Premier League games at the age of 36 and beyond, a remarkable feat for an outfield player.
