Thiago Silva: “When I arrived here, I felt it was love at first sight”

In the midst of all these rumors, Thiago continues to play and stand out for Chelsea despite the unfortunate adverse result on the last date of the Premier League against Newcastle United. In that match, the Brazilian became the oldest footballer to play a game for Chelsea at the age of 39 years and 64 days, which is why the club interviewed him to commemorate said record.

In the interview, Thiago Silva talked about a little bit of everything: family, his sporting situation and he took advantage of the opportunity to declare his love for Chelsea in a deep and sincere way, ensuring that he feels “at home” and that both he and his family are living a I dream of being in London.

“My family has supported me throughout my career and, particularly, my wife has always been there for me. When we got married, she told me she would always support my decisions and she still does, now more than ever.”

“If it were up to her, I would play until I was 50 years old. Sometimes we have conversations where I have to remind him how important it is for me to recover (rest).”

“She likes to go out more, I prefer to stay at home.”

Regarding his teammate and captain, Reece James, Thiago took the opportunity to advise him and praise him for his merits and good performances:

“I have a great relationship with Reece James. He is a great captain and has a great future, since he knows how to listen. It’s my job to be a kind of counselor. It’s difficult sometimes since the players have a notable age difference with me. What we want to do is accelerate the understanding process and I believe that the players we have here are good at that.”

To close, Thiago opened up about what Chelsea means to him and his family, especially considering that his children play in the blue academy:

“I have to say, of all the clubs I have been to, I have felt a lot of love from the clubs and the fans, but here it feels very different due to the fact that my children are also playing on the team. For me it would be a dream to see them play in the Chelsea First Team, I love watching them play and I try to help them as much as possible.”

“I love watching my kids play here. My wife is here all the time and she also wants to be there for all the road games we play. I think she realizes that time is running out little by little, so she wants to take advantage of the last years of my career. When I got here, it felt like love at first sight, to be honest, and I’m still very proud to be here.”
