Luis Suárez said goodbye to the Grêmio fans in the best way. In his last home game, with no date yet for the completion of the Brasileirao, the Uruguayan scored the only goal in the game against Vasco da Gama, a result that leaves the Porto Alegre team in fourth position and in the qualifying zone direct to the next Copa Libertadores.
During the meeting, El Pistolero received a plaque that commemorates his time at the club, but the best gift came at the subsequent press conference. The charismatic coach Renato Gaúcho gave him a DVD with all his goals from his time as a professional soccer player, which generated laughter and applause.
“I had the pleasure of seeing him play in Europe, I had the pleasure of seeing him play here in Gremio, being his coach. Fourth best scorer in the world, I don’t have to say much. So, Luis, on your vacation, on your day off, if you have time, you can watch my DVD,” the coach told him before giving him a gift followed by a long and heartfelt hug.

“Suárez has given us a year of great joy”
On a night full of emotions, Renato also praised Suárez: “I felt very proud to have worked with him and I learned a lot. I know we will all miss him dearly, but that’s life. He has given us a year of great joy, I wish him all the luck, his family and wherever he goes to play.”
The former FC Barcelona and Liverpool forward had an incredible season at Grêmio with 27 goals and 17 assists. His next destination seems to be Inter Miami, in the United States MLS, a team in which he would reunite with his friend Lionel Messi and other former teammates such as Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
