Fans who watch English football must have already realized that red cards applied directly generate greater suspensions for offenders.

Casemiro is a player who illustrates this. He twice received the ban this season and missed three Manchester United games the first time. He is currently serving his second suspension, this time for four games. He did not play against Fulham yesterday (19).

But Willian was on the field and received a straight red card for a hand ball, preventing a Manchester United goal. However, his suspension will only be for one game. Mitrović, who was unhappy with the decision and went after the referee, will be out of at least three matches for the team.

So how does the rule work? How is the punishment determined in these cases?

The fact is that the circumstance of the card is taken into account.

If the player has made a violent move and receives the red, he will serve a mandatory three-game suspension in all English football games: English Premier League, FA Cup and English League Cup.

If that same player does it again, he will be punished for the same three games and one more due to the recurrence. It is in this case that Casemiro fits. That is, if he takes another straight red until the end of the season, there will be five games of suspension: the three regular ones and two of the recurrence.

In the case of Mitrović, as there was a push to the referee, the minimum is three games, but the punishment can be increased.

Willian, on the other hand, has in his favor the fact that it was not a violent move. He denied the opposing team a chance to score a goal, a tactical foul, which lessened his punishment.
