Thiago Silva made Fluminense fans go wild by choosing to return home instead of renewing his contract with Chelsea. However, the weeks have passed, and with the team at the bottom of the Brasileirão standings, people can’t wait to see him on the field.
Although the experienced defender was able to arrange his contract in advance and was even presented to the public, a regulatory issue in Brazil is delaying his debut a bit longer than desired.

When will Thiago Silva make his Fluminense debut?
The transfer window in Brazil officially opens on July 10, and since it occurs in the middle of the 16th round of the Brasileirão, the CBF’s Registration, Transfer, and Licensing Directorate (DRT) will only allow the registration of new players from July 11.
Fluminense will face Criciúma on that day on Matchday 16 of the Brazilian Serie A.

Article 10 of the specific regulations for Brazil’s first division states that a new player can start competing in the tournament the day after their name is published in the BID.
Thus, if requests are made during working hours on the 10th, clubs playing on the 11th could have their signings available.
Therefore, the match against Criciúma could be Thiago Silva’s first since his return to Rio de Janeiro. However, if the registration is not completed in time, he could debut on Matchay 17 against Athletico Paranaense, with date and time yet to be announced.
