The classic that was played in Belo Horizonte for the Qualifiers for South Africa 2010 was forgettable.

Few chances on both sides, a lot of caution and good tactical order from Argentina left both goals at zero.

Argentina: Abbondanzieri; Burdisso, Coloccini, Heinze; Zanetti, Mascherano, Gago, Jonás Gutiérrez, Riquelme; Messi and Cruz

Brazil: Alisson, Dani Alves, Marquinhos, Miranda, Marcelo; Fernandinho, Augusto, Paulinho; Coutinho, Gabriel Jesus, Neymar.

Brazil – Argentina (Suspended – September 5, 2021)

Five minutes into the game, officials from the Brazilian health agency (Anvisa) burst onto the playing field of the Neo Química Arena stadium in Sao Paulo.

The agents reported that four Argentine soccer players who were then playing in England had violated health protocols due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The match was suspended and almost a year later it was decided not to be played, following an agreement between the football confederations of both countries.

Brazil: Weverton; Danilo, Lucas Verissimo, Militão and Alex Sandro; Everton Ribeiro, Casemiro, Gerson and Paquetá; Gabriel Barbosa and Neymar.

Argentina: Emiliano Martínez; Montiel, Romero, Otamendi and Acuña; Di María, De Paul, Paredes and Lo Celso; Messi and Lautaro Martínez.
