Due to economic, sporting and even organizational factors, the Brasileirao has earned the reputation of being the most prominent league in South America. It seems that its dominance, however, could be transferred to the entire region, to be considered the strongest in all of America.

Seeing Brazilian footballers make the leap from their country to the major leagues in Europe has already become commonplace in the world of football, especially due to the number of transfers there were this year. In fact, Brazil’s Serie A is the competition in the Americas that exported the most players to the Old Continent in 2023.

Brazil exported more players to Europe than any other league in the Americas

With 95 players, the Brasileirao is the league in the Americas that has exported the most footballers to Europe so far in 2023. As the journalist specialized in MLS, Jaime Ojeda, points out, no other country managed to get so many players (whether transferred, loaned or as free agents) will move to the Old Continent this year.

95 – Brasileirao (Brazil)
63 – Major League Soccer (USA)
46 – Professional League (Argentina)
22 – Liga BBVA MX (Mexico)
20 – USL Championship (USA)
20 – Uruguayan Championship (Uruguay)
19 – Liga BetPlay Dimayor (Colombia) )
14 – Liga Futve (Venezuela)
13 – Liga Pro Serie A (Ecuador)
12 – Canadian PL (Canada)
9 – Betsson Championship (Chile)
9 – APF Division of Honor (Paraguay)
9 – Professional Division (Bolivia)
5 – League 1 Betsson (Peru)

The export capacity of Brazilian football is nothing new, but the numbers demonstrate a superiority with respect to other leagues on the continent that perhaps was not so well known.
