After announcing Lionel Messi as the winner of The Best award in the category of best men’s player in 2023, FIFA revealed how the captains, coaches, and journalists from each country have voted. In the case of Brazil, the one who had a say was Casemiro.
The Manchester United midfielder named Erling Haaland as his first choice, despite playing for rivals Manchester City. In second place, he named Messi, while he completed his podium by selecting Kylian Mbappé, who also finished third in the overall voting. The first vote gives five points, whereas the second selection grants three and the third vote just one point.
