The experienced defender Tamires believes that the next phase of the Olympic tournament is “a new tournament.” Brazil qualified for the knockout stage in third place in their group. France will be the opponent, with the match scheduled for Saturday (3) in Nantes. On Wednesday (31), Brazil lost to Spain 2-0 in Bordeaux.

“Everything the National Team could deliver, we all delivered. I wasn’t at 100% because of the injury I sustained against Nigeria; I’m being treated, but I went onto the field to try to help Brazil and did the best I could. Then we also had Marta’s red card, which certainly wasn’t intentional, and we need to check how serious Antônia’s injury is,” she said.

In this first phase of the competition, the Brazilian National Team faced several challenges within the squad, such as injuries and expulsions. For Tamires, the team gave everything they could.

“Not just the 11 on the field, but also the substitutes and the entire delegation, everyone is united for a single goal. After qualifying, it’s a new tournament. The quarterfinals will be here, and once again, we will believe in our potential, and that’s what matters,” she concluded.
