In 2016, in Rio, she was very reserved and the nervousness of competing in an Olympics in Brazil left her quite anxious and nervous. In 2021, in Tokyo, she felt more experienced, but the excess caution prevented her from being more communicative. Now, a few days before the debut at the Paris Olympic Games, Tamires clearly perceives the changes she has gone through.
“I want to be better and better and as an athlete I want to show my work and bring the girls along with me. I communicate more with them. I put forward my points of view, also listening to what they have to say. This exchange was very evolutionary for my trajectory. In 11 years with the National Team, that quieter, more shy Tamires is now a Tamires much more open to everything,” she said.

Very comfortable in Teresópolis (RJ), Tamires is full of praise for the structure offered by the CBF at Granja Comary and for the work of coach Arthur Elias, recognizing his leadership, especially due to his track record of achievements.
“The athletes feel confident when the coach and his coaching staff are confident in their work. Arthur is a very successful coach, all of us here know his history, which brings that winning spirit to the group. And in all the call-ups he manages to convey this mindset, this feeling to the players,” she commented.
For Tamires, the scar that remained from the last participation of the Brazilian National Team in a World Cup has already healed and now all the athletes have only one focus: to take advantage of the opportunity to do things differently at the Paris Games.
“May we be able to channel all this expectation and anxiety, natural on the eve of major competitions, into work and good results. I am very confident that we will bring joy to those who follow us, who know what we can deliver and who cheer for the success of Brazilian women’s football. We are receiving this affection from many people and this is very important.”
