Luis Suárez scored three goals in Gremio’s 4-3 away victory against leader Botafogo, which allowed the Porto Alegre team to also climb to the top of the Brasileirão. El Pistolero is intractable this season: he is third in the top scorers table, with 14 goals, and leads the assists table with 11.

For Botafogo, last night’s game was another big disappointment. They were 3-1 up on the scoreboard until the Uruguayan striker, in a burst that lasted 19 minutes, scored his hat-trick that turned the situation around. The team had already suffered a tough defeat last week at home against Palmeiras, who came back from 3-0 down to also finish 4-3.

A big dispute in the Brasileirão

Veteran Diego Costa put Fogão ahead after 6 minutes, although Everton, three minutes later, tied for Grêmio. Junior Santos and Marlon Freitas put the local team ahead, but then the former FC Barcelona and Liverpool striker appeared to reverse the result.

With the victory, Grêmio went to the top of the table with 59 points and equals the line of Botafogo, which has already had four consecutive defeats that allowed its followers to get closer to the top. Palmeiras also remains at the top of the table, but Fogão has the advantage of having one game less.
