La Beaujoire Stadium, located in Nantes, will be the venue for the Olympic quarterfinals between the Brazilian Women’s National Team and the French team this Saturday (3rd) at 4 PM (Brasília time). Recently celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, La Beaujoire is accustomed to hosting major competitions and was built and inaugurated for the Euro 1984 tournament in France.

The stadium has a capacity of over 35,000 people and is the home of FC Nantes, a team that competes in Ligue 1, the top division of football in the country. The green and yellow colors reflect those of the Brazilian National Team, but the stands are expected to be filled with blue as French fans wear their team’s jerseys to support Les Bleues.

La Beaujoire bids farewell to this Olympics with the match between Brazil and France, having already hosted three group stage games involving Brazil: Spain 2 x 1 Japan, Spain 1 x 0 Nigeria, and Japan 3 x 1 Nigeria.

In addition to the Euro, La Beaujoire also hosted the 1998 FIFA World Cup and the 2007 Rugby World Cup, a popular sport in France. Specifically, during the World Cup, it was the site of two victories for Brazil: a 3-0 win over Morocco on June 16, with goals from Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Bebeto in the group stage; and a 3-2 victory against Denmark on July 3, with two goals from Rivaldo and one from Bebeto in the quarterfinals.

Among its architectural features, La Beaujoire is known for its curves and a roof that covers the stands. The design is by French architect Berdje Agopyan.
