Former Brazilian footballer Dani Alves, currently held in confinement near Barcelona since January, faces serious accusations of sexual assault against a young woman. These distressing events transpired during the night of December 30 to 31, 2022, within the confines of Sutton, a nightclub in Barcelona.

The 23-year-old alleged victim provided a chilling account of her ordeal in a testimony for Spanish outlet Diario AS. She recalled Dani Alves approaching her while she was with her cousin, eventually leading her into a cramped restroom. It was there that the grim reality of her situation became apparent, and her shock began to intensify.
She recounted,
“He was behind me, I had my cousin in front of me. Then I remember him walking away and beckoning me to come to him. Until the end, I thought, you can talk to him and see what he wants, and I didn’t think anything else. I went there to talk to him. At no time did I know where I was going. I remember going to where he was, but I couldn’t imagine where he was taking me. We arrived and there was a door, he opened it and I walked in. When I walked in, I saw what I was getting myself into, I saw it was a tiny toilet, I saw it was very, very small. I think that’s when my shock started.”
The victim recalled a distressing sequence of events, stating, how she pleaded with him, saying, ‘I have to go, I have to go.’ However, he disregarded her pleas, lifted her dress, and forced her to sit on his lap. He began making inappropriate remarks, insisting that she engage in conversation with him.
As his advances grew more aggressive, she steadfastly resisted. During the encounter, he injured her knee, and in a horrifying turn of events, he attempted to coerce her into performing oral sex. She repeatedly attempted to distance herself, but he forcibly seized her by the neck and subjected her to series of violent slaps.
In a bid to expedite his trial, Dani Alves decided not to challenge the referral to a Spanish court, notwithstanding his denial of the allegations. At present, the 40-year-old Brazilian remains in pre-trial detention, awaiting the scheduling of his court hearing.
