Bruninho, son of ex-model Eliza Samudio and goalkeeper Bruno, took a significant step in his football journey by signing his first professional contract.

At 14 years old, Bruninho signed with Athletico-PR on a symbolic date: February 22, the day his mother, a victim of a tragic crime, would have turned 39.

Bruninho’s Contract

  • Standing at 1.88m tall and wearing size 44 cleats, Bruninho caught attention from his early days in football schools across Brazil.
  • In 2022, the young talent underwent a trial and joined Athletico-PR in the under-13 category, and now in 2024, after standing out in various matches, he progresses to the under-14 team, also being integrated into the under-15 squad due to his stature and promising performance.
  • This contract not only marks a milestone in his career but also pays tribute to his mother’s legacy and the realization of his own dreams in the world of football.

Tribute to his mother

Eliza Samudio’s dreams for her son resonate even after her untimely departure. She believed that Bruninho would be a successful goalkeeper and envisioned a future where he would defend São Paulo, the club she supported.

“It was a gift for her,” shared Bruninho, emotional as he signed his first contract.

In addition to a monthly financial assistance, Bruninho will have the opportunity to study at Athletico-PR’s training center, thanks to a partnership with a private school, and receive specialized medical care provided by the club.

Previously, the young athlete attended a public school in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul before moving to Curitiba, Paraná, the home of Athletico Paranaense.

Eliza’s dreams live on

“Unfortunately, my daughter could not witness part of her wish coming true. Today is a day of mixed feelings, of sadness for her absence and happiness for her son starting to make his dreams come true,” reflects Sônia Moura, Eliza’s mother, present at the contract signing alongside her grandson and sports agent Pedro Wambier from Welt Sports.

Goalkeeper Bruno nearly arrested again

Bruninho’s expenses are covered by his grandmother with the pension from her husband since Bruno has not paid child support since 2022. On parole, the former Flamengo goalkeeper has come close to being jailed again for owing months of child support.
