Romário does not think that the Brazilian National Team should wait another year until Carlo Ancelotti is free of his Real Madrid contract. The 1994 World Champion says that this might hurt the preparation for the next Copa América, which is set to take place days after Ancelotti will be avaliable, and the South American Qualifiers.

“Firstly, it is not fair to Brazilian football to be dependent on a coach, regardless of who he is. Ancelotti is one of the greatest coaches in football, he won everything he had to win. If it were now, he would be most welcome. In a little while there will be the Qualifiers. For now I think the president of the CBF is wrong about this," he said to Ge.

Globo was the first to report that Ancelotti and CBF had reached a verbal agreement. The Italian can not sign a contract until January, when he will have only six months left at Real Madrid. There is no official confirmation. As of now, the Brazilian National Team will be coached by Ramon Menezes, from the U20 squad, and someone to be appointed by Ancelotti.

Wearing the number 9 shirt = Goals

Romário was also asked about the forwards avaliable. Richarlison and Pedro have not been in a good phase lately, specially the latter one, who had a bad season at Tottenham and did not score against Guinea or Senegal.

“Richarlison is a goal scorer, just like we have Pedro. But unfortunately since the World Cup, the number 9 has not done their duty, which is to score important goals for Brazil. It"s no use doing one when you win 4-0. You have to do it when it"s 0-0, a difficult game. Richarlison is a Brazilian National Team player, as is Pedro. I see these two players who can play for 9, but they have to do it [score goals]."
