Jorge Jesus made four changes in the red eleven compared to the last match, against Rangers, last Thursday, with the entry of Gilberto, DarwinWaldschmidt and Samaris, the Greek who had not been a starter in the Eagles since June 2020.

On the other side, the highlight was the absence of Gaitan, who failed to return to Luz due to a last minute injury.

Benfica entered the match in search of the goal, putting pressure on SC Braga who showed themselves in Luz with low lines and defending themselves very compactly, making it difficult for Benfica to reach the last third with real danger.

The first goal came from Braga in the 38th minute via a tame shot from Iuri Medeiros. They doubled their lead in the 50th minute after a goal from Moura. The player then grabbed his brace when he scored yet another in the 63rd minute to put his side 3-0 up.

Seferovic grabbed one three minutes later before grabbing his second four minutes from time but it was not enough to register a brilliant comeback on the occasion.

With this result, Benfica added the third game without winning in all competitions, conceding three goals for the second consecutive game in I Liga, after the defeat in Bessa.

The ‘Eagles’ let Sporting run away at the top of the championship, with those from Alvalade leading with four points ahead of their rivals. SC Braga climbs to 2nd place with the same 15 points as Benfica and two more than FC Porto who fell to 4th place.
