São Paulo leads the Brazilian clubs to have trained the most players playing in the major championships

The CIES, International Center for Sports Studies, published a study on the number of players trained by a club playing in the biggest championships, and São Paulo emerges as the first Brazilian club on this list.

In a ranking dominated by Ajax with 86 trained players playing in the 48 biggest championships in the world, closely followed by Benfica (85) and Sporting Lisbon (83), São Paulo is ranked 18th, and emerges as the first Brazilian club in the ranking with 66 trained players currently playing in these championships. Just ahead, we find for example Flamengo in 24th place with 58 players trained, or even further away Fluminense in 34th place with 52 players trained

If São Paulo is the first Brazilian club, it is not the first South American club appearing in this ranking. The Uruguayans of Defensor SC act as the spearhead of training in this part of the globe, being 4th with 82 players trained at the club and playing in the 48 biggest championships, followed closely by Boca Juniors, 5th with 81 players, and River Plate, 7th with 79 players.
