Ceará and São Paulo could only manage a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night at Castelão in Fortaleza. The game was a late one for the 16th round of the Brazilian Championship. Tricolor went ahead 11 minutes in the game with a goal from Diego Costa but Vozão leveled the scoring in the early stages of the second half with a brilliant goal from Léo Chú.
The match did bring its own fair share of controversies in the game. São Paulo’s second goal, scored by Pablo was disallowed by the assistant referee for offside but after the checked with the VAR, it was reinstated. Then the game was restarted and the VAR revised the decision again, in which the goal was later cancelled and given as offside.
The game between Ceará and São Paulo was well balanced with both sides’ chances cancelling out each other, ending the game in a draw.
São Paulo was dominant in the play from the onset, creating three successive chances at a bounce, with Gabriel Sara, Reinaldo and then Juanfran. In the 11th minute, Diego Costa opened the scoring for the Tricolor and gave them a well-deserved lead.
In the second half, Ceará came back from the break better and leveled matters just two minutes into the second period. Pablo made a mistake and handed his opponents the ball in a move that ended in a goal scored by Léo Chú.
São Paulo take on Bahia next in the Serie A while Ceará take on Vasco da Gama.
