Both teams were looking for ways to get pass their opponents defenses with Sao Paulo being the better side of the two teams. In two moves, Sao Paulo was ruled out for an offside: first on a ball on Vitor Bueno’s post, then on a goal by Reinaldo. The best chance of the first half was the one with Reinaldo.
Fernando Diniz made strong changes to the team at half time like he did against Fluminense, Hernanes and Paulinho.
Bóia came and replaced Gabriel Sara and Vitor Bueno.
Raul’s substitution by Matheus Jesus only took seven minutes to make an impact on the game by taking advantage of Arthur’s pass to put his team 1-0 up in the 53rd minute.
After the goal, the game became even more intense for São Paulo. Bragantino started counterattacking better and had a clear chance of extending their lead. The best of them was in a penalty.
The visiting team had another chance lost, with Bruno Tubarão missing his chance. In a throw by Léo, goalkeeper Cleiton got confused with the defenders and allowed Helinho to free Luciano causing him to have free space to slot the ball into the goal and tie the game in the 78th minute.
São Paulo will return to the field next Saturday against Santos at Vila Belmiro. Bragantino, the next day, visits Atlético-MG.
