Betfair ambassador and Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazário spoke in an interview with the aforementioned betting house, where he touched on various topics related to his candidates for both the Copa Libertadores and the Copa Sudamericana.

Ronaldo, brave and candid, had no trouble selecting his top candidates in both competitions, choosing, as expected, several Brazilian teams as his favorites in both tournaments.

Libertadores: Ronaldo Nazário’s four candidates

In his conversation with Betfair, Ronaldo selected four strong candidates to compete for the Libertadores title, and unsurprisingly, based on current form and sheer favoritism, the legendary striker chose three Brazilian teams and only one foreign team:

“I believe the four teams with the greatest favoritism for the Libertadores 2024 are Flamengo, Palmeiras, São Paulo, and River Plate,” explained the former striker, who listed the reasons why these teams are favorites:

  •  “Flamengo has a strong squad, and Tite has been improving the team in the Brasileirão, adding more consistency to the group.”
  •  “Palmeiras continues to bear fruit from long-term work.”
  •  “São Paulo is the breakout team of the year, with real chances of being one of the finalists.”
  •  “And River Plate is always a dangerous rival, with a lot of tradition in the competition,” concluded the mythical player.

His personal bet

However, despite mentioning these four teams as the main candidates for the title, Ronaldo had the courage to choose only one favorite, selecting what he believes is the team currently playing the best football in Brazil:

“If I had to bet on a single favorite to win this year’s Copa Libertadores, I would bet on Flamengo. They have a talented squad, an experienced and successful coach, and they are currently playing the best football in Brazil. Of course, anything can happen; we know there’s a long way to go until the final, but Flamengo seems to be a step ahead of the other teams at the moment,” he asserted.

Mengão will play at home tonight against Bolívar at 9:30 PM Brasília time, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Libertadores. The return leg, scheduled to take place in Bolivia, will be held next Thursday, August 22, at the same time.
