Ronaldo Nazário believes that Brazilian football will have a leap of quality in the next few years, especially coach-wise. In an interview with the ‘Mano a Mano’ podcast, the former player and CEO of Cruzeiro believes that a tendency is getting shape after investments by CBF (the Brazilian FA) in better formation for its managers.
Brazil is been overflown by foreign managers and the discussion about if if the country should keep on going this way is always present nowadays. As Carlo Ancelotti will coach the national team, in the words of CBF’s president Ednaldo Rodrigues, the foreign participation in the football culture is even more questioned. Some defend that Brazil should go this way whereas other believe that the five time world champions should look inwards for success.

“Brazil will make a leap in quality in about five or six years. We started five or six years ago with coaching courses, methodology courses, and the CBF has invested a lot in this. It is something that is not talked about much, perhaps even because of the slightly scratched image. This will change the level of Brazilian football, both in the training of coaches, as in the training of methodology, grassroots programs,” analyzed Ronaldo.
“Today, we have, in the first division alone, ten foreign coaches. They are more prepared than Brazilians. I know I will be criticized for this, because they will think that I have no patriotism and I prefer foreigners. But that’s not it, you have to hire the best. There are prepared Brazilians, but it becomes something very expensive too.”
