The Champions League suits Real Madrid well and in this edition they once again show it: the 14-time champion of this tournament beat Napoli 2-1 at home to secure first place in group C. Carlo Ancelotti’s team has 15 points thanks to its five victories to maintain a perfect score in the absence of a date for this phase to end.

The situation did not start well for the Merengues at the Santiago Bernabéu: in the 9th minute, Gio Simeone, former River Plate and son of Atlético de Madrid coach Diego Simeone, opened the scoring for the Italians. But less than two minutes later Rodrygo showed that he is in an exceptional moment of the season: he received a slight hitch at the door of the area to settle in and take a right hand that went high into the top corner.

The team from the Spanish capital maintained its overwhelming attitude, which was rewarded in the 22nd minute with a new goal from Jude Bellingham. The Englishman headed in a perfect cross from David Alaba to make it 2-1.

The visitors found the tie through Cameroonian Zambo Anguissa. The parity was broken only in the 84th minute through Nico Paz. Already in added time, Joselu put in the final blow to make it 4-2.

Real Madrid is already thinking about the round of 16 draw

With the victory, Real Madrid paved the way for a more favorable match in the round of 16. For its part, Napoli is second in the group with 7 points and still needs a draw on the last date at the Diego Maradona stadium against Braga, which tied 1-1 with Unión Berlin.

Time is good for the white team to recover some injured players such as Vinicius Junior, Courtois, Militão, Camavinga, among others. Meanwhile, they also aim high in LaLiga, a tournament in which they share the lead with the surprising Girona.
