Coach Ramon Menezes, still in the euphoria of the historic title of Brazilian men’s football at the Pan-American Games in Santiago, made a point of sharing the merit of the achievement with his colleagues on the technical committee, the CBF staff who worked before and during the competition, and especially the team players. He said that the Brazilian team was champion with all its merits.

“It is a title of gigantic importance, which has not been won by Brazil for 36 years. I knew our responsibility. How much dedication these athletes have, they were fantastic. We had a great competition. I want to congratulate everyone on the coaching staff and everyone who worked hard for this gold medal. The players showed impressive dedication”, said the coach.

He highlighted the numbers of the Brazilian Team’s participation in the Pan-American Games and already pointed to the next challenge – qualifying the Team for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games – the place will be defined in the Pre-Olympic Games, at the beginning of next year.

“Our team scored 8 goals and conceded just one. This shows that we won with merit. An enormous degree of difficulty, in a very difficult competition. But nothing is easy, everything comes with work and dedication. Now it’s time to start targeting the Pre-Olympics, which only gives two places to the Olympics: it will also be a very competitive contest.”
