The preparatory period for the Pre-Olympic squad at Granja Comary has come to an end. Now, the Brazilian National Team continues in search of another title, this time, in the Pre-Olympic Tournament, in Venezuela, which guarantees qualification for the Paris Olympic Games. In a press conference this Tuesday (16), coach Ramon Menezes took stock of the training in Teresópolis.

“When I arrived here, I told them that I was at the head of a very promising generation and that one of our challenges was to instill competitiveness in the minds of these athletes. The training sessions were good in that sense, and the time was also suitable for us to make some changes. The important thing is that we are going to Venezuela, and everyone here already knows what to do and how to do it”, highlighted the coach.

In 2023, Ramon and the Seleção won the Pan-American Championship, a feat that had not happened in 36 years. Now, the coach reinforced the importance of qualifying for the Brazilian team, which is the current two-time Olympic champion.

“Wearing the Brazilian team’s shirt is already a big responsibility, it’s already a pressure. We have a lot of confidence in the work. Brazil, in the two editions of the pre-Olympics, didn’t manage to become champion, but managed to get the place. So, It’s step by step, it’s a very important and very difficult competition.”

In the first phase of the competition, Brazil makes up group A, alongside Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia and Ecuador. The team debuts on the 23rd, against Bolivia. Then they face Colombia, on the 26th. The third opponent will be Ecuador on the 29th. They finish the group stage playing the hosts on February 1st. All matches in this stage will be in Caracas, at the Brígido Iriarte Stadium.

“We will try to convey in every way what the Brazilian football game is, the spirit and attitude, the dedication of the soul, as it has always been in recent competitions.”
