Coach Ramon Menezes, despite being upset with the Brazilian team’s 1-0 defeat to Paraguay, on Monday afternoon (5), in Caracas, tried to encourage the team to continue with the final quadrangular of the Pre-Olympic. The team will face Venezuela, on Thursday (8), and Argentina, on Sunday (11). If you win both matches, you will guarantee your place.

“We already knew how difficult this game with Paraguay was going to be, a game with a lot of physical contact. Paraguay faces a lot of danger from set pieces, they have a team that likes to attack in depth and is strong in the second ball game. We had a little difficulty with that”, declared Ramon.

He regretted the wasted opportunities in the first half, two of them golden – a penalty taken by Endrick and saved by the Paraguayan goalkeeper and a shot by John Kennedy, free in the area, whose ball went over the baseline.

“Even with the problems in the first half, especially when the ball came out, situations in which Paraguay let us out and at the same time put pressure on us, we had two great chances to make it 2-0. There, perhaps, the story of the game would be different.”

For the coach, the quadrangular has just begun and Brazil’s stumble can be overcome – even more so because of the 2-2 draw between Venezuela and Argentina, also this Monday, after the Amarelinha game.

“It’s still up to us, we have the ability to play two great matches and win both games, against Venezuela and Argentina. Let’s continue working with this purpose.”
