After the setback of the Brazilian Women’s National Team to France, this Saturday (29), by 2-1, in Brisbane, for the second round of the Women’s World Cup the captain of Canarinho, Rafaelle, commented on the performance of team in the match.

She lamented the result that left Brazil in third place in Group F, with three points. The French are in the lead, with four, and Jamaica is in second with four as well.

“We expected the pressure, they play like that. I think we lacked being closer to each other on the pitch. When we received the ball from behind, we didn’t have that short pass to go out playing”, she explained.

Brazil encountered difficulties in the first half, but grew in production around the break and reached a tie with Debinha, who scored her first goal in World Cups, the 59th with Amarelinha. For Rafaelle, the rapprochement between the players was the difference for the Brazilian evolution in the match.

“We came into the second half with the lines closest to try to involve their team. I think that adjustment was lacking during the first half”, she said.

In the 39th minute of the final stage, Renard scored the winning goal for the opponents. Despite the result, the defender, who is playing in her second Cup, said that the defeat should be seen as a lesson for the group.

“Nothing is lost. We lost a game when we could have lost. We understand that, to be champion of a World Cup, you don’t need to win every game. But now it’s all or nothing”, she stressed.

Afterwards, she showed confidence in qualifying for the round of 16. The Brazilian team takes the field next Wednesday (2nd), at 7 am (Brasília time), at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, in Melbourne, for the last round of the group stage of the Women’s World Cup.

“We now have a very important game against Jamaica, a very strong team, which has a great striker, Bunny Shaw. It’s learning from the mistakes of that game and going into the next one with our heads held high to try to get that classification”, she reinforced.
