After the 0-0 draw against Jamaica, for the last round of the group stage of the Women’s World Cup, defender Rafaelle lamented the score that resulted in the elimination of the Brazilian Women’s Team from the tournament this Wednesday (2).

“Now it’s difficult to analyze. It’s very recent, I’m very sad, it’s difficult to describe the feeling. Today’s game, we needed to have won, we should have scored goals”, she said.

One of the pillars of Canarinho, the defender was asked what she would do when she found her teammates in the locker room and showed support for the group of players who dedicated themselves to guarantee the unprecedented title in Brazil. She also commented that now the team must prepare for the 2024 Olympic Games.

“First of all, I’ll thank everyone. Regardless of the result, everyone did their best. Unfortunately, the victory didn’t come. Now it’s time to think about next year, in Paris. We have a year to prepare, correct the needs and get better for the Olympics”, she complemented.

Player with the second highest number of matches for the national team, with 143, behind only Marta – the Queen reached 189 games -, left-back Tamires also commented on the Brazilian performance in the match.

“I think Brazil was superior in the game. Coming into this match having to win brings greater nervousness. The game was going on, we were even more anxious, and Jamaica was very closed. Brazil fought until the end, but we weren’t happy with our chances”, she explained.

Tamires added that the disqualification should be seen as a lesson and defended that the result does not represent the advances achieved by women’s football in Brazil.

“When you lose, you learn a lesson for the Brazilian team. We are coming from a growth with football in Brazil and we cannot let a result like that stop us. It is a huge sadness for me and for the girls, but Brazil is much more than that. We have one more cycle, a lot of work to happen. May we continue with visibility and investment so that we can grow more and more”, she highlighted.
