After the 4-0 victory against Jamaica, at the Arena Pernambuco, in Recife, the Brazilian National Team is already in Salvador, Bahia, for the second friendly match against the same opponent. On Monday (3), a day before the game that ends this FIFA Date, defender Rafaelle and coach Arthur Elias spoke about the importance of having matches in Brazil.

“I think it will be the first time we’ll have a Marta, a Cristiane playing for those girls who have always dreamed of watching the National Team in their state. How inspiring will this game be for them? Bahia has a lot of talent and these children have to have more opportunities. This representativeness and this visibility that we are having today in Bahia and tomorrow in the game will be very important,” said the player.

“Visibility is very important for the growth of women’s football, and it is a duty of the press, it is a duty of the entities to give this space that women’s football deserves to reach a larger audience. It is also our duty to present a football with great dedication. It’s a responsibility of all of us in this process and the fan is who we always want to reach in football. We here in Brazil know that the Women’s National Team has always had the support and admiration of the fans, but we want to regain confidence more and more, with a National Team that inspires, represents and is victorious,” said the coach.

Rafaelle is from the city of Cipó, in Bahia, and could not hold back her emotion when she remembered that for the first time she will wear the Yellow Jersey in her state.

“It’s a pleasure to be in Bahia, to play in Salvador. I’m very happy to be here, but regardless of the place, it’s always an honor to wear the National Team jersey. It’s a very big emotion, it’s something very strong because I will have my family who supported me there with me. I get emotional because only my family and I know how difficult it is to reach the Brazilian National Team and have the opportunity to play in your own city is incredible.”

Arthur Elias took the opportunity to comment on the friendly match against Jamaica. The coach said he will promote some debuts and commented on the proposal for the match.

“Throughout the entire call-up process, we tried to reinforce the game model. Tomorrow’s match will show me if we are making the right decisions. I hope we have another great performance.”
