PSG will be sweating on the fitness of Neymar after the forward suffered his most recent setback following a thigh injury.
Injury to the 29-year-old was the only gloom as PSG claimed a 1-0 victory over Caen in the Coupe de France on Wednesday night.
Neymar was among the most the most threatening players on the pitch for PSG and it was no surprise he had a hand in his side’s first goal.
Four minutes into the second half, he made a darting run through the left-flank and sent in a cross for Moise Kean to tap in for the winner. The Brazilian superstar is also a big favorite to win the Samba Gold award, with the winner set to be announced later this month,
However, there was worry soon to come. Just on the stroke of the hour-mark, a strong challenge from Steeve Yago sent Neymar to the ground clutching his thigh.
He was in visible pain as he walked off the pitch and had to be replaced by Kylian Mbappe.
With a big Champions League game against his former side Barcelona next week, Neymar is now likely expected to miss that game for PSG and that is a big blow to the French giants.
On a personal level, it is yet another disappointing injury that continues to plague the Brazilian forward.
This will make for Neymar’s fourth injury this season alone, having missed a total of 11 games due to injuries and coronavirus.
It also continues a bad omen where he suddenly suffers an injury just before this round of the Champions League games.
PSG will now be hopeful the injury won’t keep him out for too long and that he’ll also be fit in time to perhaps feature for the second leg against the Catalan giants.
