Angel di Maria was not in PSG’s squad for the game against Atalanta. The Parisians left it late to overcome La Dea. However, he came good on his absence against RB Leipzig.
The Argentine was in full swing during the proceedings. He had a hand in all of PSG’s goals, scoring one and laying down the assists for the other two.
The game started brightly as the ball made it to both ends of the pitch within the first five minutes.
The intensity wore off soon as PSG took control of the game.
Neymar could have troubled the scorers in the seventh minute, but his shot on goal thundered off the post. He would get more chances but the result remained the same. The Brazilian’s name continued to stay off the board.
The French side eventually doubled their lead in the 42nd minute. Leandro Parades found Neymar, whose excellent back-heel pass was sent into the net by Di Maria.
PSG went into the break with the bulk of possession and a healthy 2-0 lead.
PSG were under pressure but remained threatening on the ball. They made their proficiency count and hit Leipzig on the break. Di Maria was in the center of it all. His cross was met by an unmarked Juan Bernat, who made it 3-0.
Neymar put on yet another brilliant performance and has now has one eye on Champions League glory. It is the first time the French side have made it to the finals and it could be the greatest result in their history should they go on to win the competition.
