Press: Porto considers offer to Sao Paulo to sign Lucas Beraldo

The Portuguese club aspires to persuade the Brazilian player that a move to Portugal would be beneficial for his growth

Porto, a club in Portugal, has turned its attention towards the promising 19-year-old defender, Lucas Beraldo, who currently plays for São Paulo. They are contemplating the idea of presenting an offer, although official negotiations have yet to commence. The information was published by the Goal website.

São Paulo has refrained from specifying a particular price for the potential transfer of the young talent, but they highly value him. In the year 2023, Lucas Beraldo made 38 appearances, with 37 of them as a starter, amassing a total of 3,328 minutes on the pitch, and even netting one goal in a Brasileirão match against Vasco. He played a pivotal role in São Paulo’s historic triumph in the Copa do Brasil, where they defeated Flamengo.

Porto’s envisioned strategy revolves around offering Lucas Beraldo a career trajectory reminiscent of Éder Militão, a similar talent who made the journey from São Paulo to Real Madrid via Porto. The Portuguese club aspires to persuade him that remaining in Portugal would be beneficial for his growth, emphasizing not only the football culture but also the shared language.

In September, Lucas Beraldo inked a new contract with São Paulo, which includes a termination clause valued at €60 million, a figure deemed significant even by European standards, assuring São Paulo the ability to negotiate in case of a suitable offer. Lucas Beraldo’s economic rights are distributed among São Paulo (60%), XV de Piracicaba (20%), and the player himself (20%).

Additionally, two prominent European clubs, Fiorentina and Wolverhampton, have recently expressed interest in securing Lucas Beraldo’s services in the transfer market. While Wolverhampton hinted at offering around €7 million, São Paulo deemed this sum insufficient for their prized defender.
