Since the departure of Lionel Messi and the uncertainty hovering around the future of Kylian Mbappé, Paris Saint-Germain have been going through a tumultuous period. This situation could however be an opportunity for Neymar to regain his leading position within the French club.

The Parisian team have indeed reviewed their position with regard to the Brazilian, once considered dispensable. This behind-the-scenes information was published by the newspaper L’Équipe.

Neymar could thus take over the reins of the team, carried by the arrival of a new coach, his healed ankle and the uncertainty surrounding Mbappé. The Brazilian player has expressed his desire to stay at PSG, which has prompted a change of perspective among the leaders, who are now reluctant to let him go.

This turnaround marks a new chapter in the sometimes tumultuous relationship between Neymar and Paris Saint-Germain. In 2018, only a year after his resounding transfer, the Brazilian had already considered leaving the club.

But at the time, Thomas Tuchel, the coach, had managed to convince him to stay, pointing out that he had not yet shown his full potential and that they still had many objectives to achieve together. Now 31, Neymar is still present and has even extended his contract until 2027. However, each season is marked by debates and persistent exit rumors.

PSG’s board consider giving Neymar a more influential role

The Parisian board are considering giving Neymar a more influential role within the club. They wonder if the return of the Brazilian as a figurehead of PSG would not be possible. Moreover, the arrival of coach Luis Enrique, with whom Neymar won the Champions League at FC Barcelona in 2015, could help change his behavior and boost his confidence.

Despite this, the recent controversies surrounding Neymar are also highlighted. The media reported the uproar on his vacation, fueling speculation about his future. However, the Brazilian player is currently in the recovery phase after an ankle operation and should resume his activities in the second semester.
