It has been a long journey in preparation for this moment. After fifteen days of work on the Gold Coast, the Brazilian team is now on headquarters for the first phase of the World Cup. With six days left for the debut, the delegation has gone this Tuesday (18) for Brisbane to finalize the last preparations before the debut against Panama, on the 24th of July.

The Brazilian team landed in Australia on July 4th, and since then, the group has had fourteen days of activities in the Royal Pines field. Enough time to adapt to the 13:00 time zone and also to adjust the players’ physical and tactical aspects.

“We did a preparation taking into account that the players were playing in different leagues in the world, some in the United States, Europe and Brazil, they came from different places. Now they are all in the same place and on the same page. And that is the real reason for us to be here and the players have done an amazing job,” said Pia Sundhage.

In the preparation period, the Women’s National Team held two training games, one against China and the other against the Queensland U-15 Men’s National Team. For Pia, this was an important opportunity to test some options in the starting line-up of matches.

“We had a great preparation period, with a lot of training and we tried our best to have a lot of 11 x 11 clashes. The players are tired. Now we are ready to start this World Cup,” she highlighted.

Brazil debuts in the World Cup next Monday (24) against Panama, in Adelaide (AUS). Next, they face France, on the 29th, in Melbourne, and close their participation in the group stage against Jamaica, on August 2nd.
