The top scorer of the Brazilian Championship, Pedro is back with the Brazilian national team. He hadn’t worn the national jersey for a year, with his last call-up for friendlies in June 2023 in Europe.
In good form at Flamengo, the Rio de Janeiro striker thanked the affection of the Paraná fans and said he intends to “write” his name in the history of the national team. On Friday (6), Brazil will play its first match in the World Cup qualifiers. The national team faces Ecuador at Couto Pereira. Then, on the 10th, the team will play against Paraguay in Asunción.
This season, Pedro has scored 30 goals in the Flamengo jersey and wants to increase that number while wearing the Brazil shirt. He is one of Flamengo’s highlights with 135 goals scored in five years.

“My focus is to write my name in the national team as well, by scoring goals and giving my best. I hope to do that on the field, contributing to the expectations placed on the national team’s striker. I am very happy to receive the fans’ affection on social media, here in Curitiba as well, and I hope to repay it with goals,” said the striker.
Pedro was direct in the press conference held on Tuesday (3) in Curitiba. He stated that the team’s focus is to get back on the path to victories in the qualifiers.
“We know the responsibility of wearing the national team jersey and that we’ve gone through a delicate process with not-so-good results. What will make the difference is the work and the camaraderie here. Time is short, and our focus is to get back on the path to victories, to climb the table in the qualifiers, and I am sure we will find that path with work and dedication,” said the striker.
“Thank God I am back, and I hope to contribute with my teammates to start winning again and get back on the path to victories. I am happy to be here; I feel honored to wear this jersey, and every day I give my best to achieve this dream on the field,” he added.
Pedro recalled his partnership with Dorival Júnior. They worked together at Flamengo, the club he still defends today. The athlete praised the work of the national team coach.
“Professor Dorival is an excellent, very experienced coach who adapts very quickly, and I believe all the players feel very comfortable. He makes the game plan clear, which is important given the short time we have to work. I am sure we will find the path to victories and the objectives we have ahead,” he said.
Pedro has competitors for his position as a striker. Even with the competition, the player remained calm, stating that everyone wants the best for Brazil.
“It’s good for the national team to have great players, big names to occupy the role on the field. It’s good to have this competition not only between me and Endrick but among all those who will be on the field to help the Brazilian national team,” he commented.
