Pan-American: Igor Jesus celebrates his chance in the Brazilian National Team: “It’s an honor”

Called up for the Brazilian National Team for the first time, midfielder Igor Jesus does not hide his happiness at wearing Amarelinha. The player was called up by coach Ramon Menezes to compete in the Pan American Games in Santiago, which will open this Friday (20). Brazil debuts against the United States on Monday (23).

“It’s an honor to be wearing the Brazil shirt, representing my country. I have to thank God, my entire family, for the support of my managers and the entire National Team committee for the opportunity. I’m very happy”, he celebrated.

The end of the year for Igor has been full of joy. In addition to being called up to represent Brazil, the Flamengo athlete became champion of the Brasileirão U20. And now the midfielder aims to win the gold medal at the Pan American Games.

“I hope to have a good Pan, help the team with whatever they need, to have a good campaign and pursue our objective, which is to be champion,” he said.

Igor also thanked the group for their welcome upon his arrival and that of other newcomers to the team.

“(It’s been) very peaceful. The guys embraced me perfectly, they made us feel comfortable, the whole committee did too”, he stated.

The Pan-American Team delegation embarked this Wednesday (18) for Santiago, Chile, to compete. Upon arrival in the country, the city of Viña del Mar will be the base for Amarelinha throughout the tournament.

Brazil’s debut is scheduled for next Monday (23) against the United States, in Valparaíso, at 2 pm. Next Thursday (26), the team returns to the field against Colombia, in Viña del Mar, at 4pm. Brazil’s last match in the group stage takes place on the 29th, at 7pm, against Honduras, in Sausalito.
