Palmeiras played out to another big win in the Copa Libertadores and are off to the quarter-finals of the competition.
Following their initial 3-1 result in the first leg at Ecuador, Verdão showed why they are one of the favorites with another resounding 5-0 victory at Alianz Parque to make it an 8-1 victory on aggregate.
It was a good game for some players in particular. Patrick de Paula grabbed a great goal but he got injured in the first half.
The second half saw Gabriel Veron bag two goals and record an assist for Willian. Danilo then completed the goal that wrapped up the 5-0 victory.
The result also means Palmeiras currently boast the best attack in the Libertadores as it stands. Verdão are up to 25 goals already and have two more than River Plate who are also through to the quarterfinals of the competition.
Following his goal, Willian became the joint-top scorer for Palmeiras this season with 15 goals to his name alongside Luiz Adriano who has been out of the team due to injury.
In contrasting fortune, the day ended for Patrick de Paula who suffered an injury and will now be tested on Thursday to the extent of damage done to his right thigh. He suffered a muscle injury in the latter stages of the first half and even left the pitch crying as he was stretchered off.
Palmeiras will play against Paraguay outfit Libertad in the quarterfinals of the Libertadores.
Palmeiras will now turn their attentions to the Brazilian Championship where they face a big match against Santos in Vila Belmiro on Saturday.
