After 12 years, Verdão reigns in the state of São Paulo and ends a particular title drought that has bothered them for a while. Even better that it was against their bitter rivals made the win all the more graceful. But it didn’t come easy as well: after Luiz Adriano opened the scoring, Gustavo Gómez committed a penalty in Jô in the last minute of the game and made it possible for the opposition to kevel the scoring. On penalties, however, Weverton got two charges, and Patrick de Paula secured the title.
Few chances Palmeiras and Corinthians showed more desire to play football than in the first leg, which meant nothing close to an exciting duel. Within the first stage, between fouls and errors in construction of plays, the clearest chance came at the feet of Willian, who received a pass from Zé Rafael inside the small area, between four scorers, and saw Cássio make a spectacular defense to save Corinthians.

Jô left it late to score a 90th minute penalty and level the scoring for penalties.

Then, everyone at Palmeiras converted their respective charges: Raphael Veiga, Gustavo Scarpa, Lucas Lima and Patrick de Paula. The win for Palmeiras will be their 23rd Paulistão title, surpassing Santos and taking the second position in the overall ranking of Paulistão champions.
