Inter chose to rest some key players on the evening and it was evident in their play on the pitch. In general, both sides lacked creativity and urgency. It was a game of few chances and the lack of a clear winner was perhaps a fair result to both sides.
The first half of the fixture was a dull one and barely brought any bright spark.
Inter fielded a much weakened side compared to their usual lineup.
Colorado only threatened in the 13th minute via an attempt from an acrobatic bicycle kick from Patrick. However, his effort went wide.
In similar fashion, Palmeiras saw their best chance of the half come in the 34th minute with a good range effort from outside the box. Inter had another chance with a long shot from Moses and that marked the end of a rather pale first half.
The second half resumed the same way with both sides making weak attempts at goal. Inter thought they had won the game in the second minute of extra time. A penalty goal from Thiago Gallardo looked to be the winner but Palmeiras snatched a point with the last kick of the game via a goal from Luiz Adriano two minutes later.
Inter remain top of the pile for the Brasileirão with 16 points although São Paulo can go level on points if they win their game later on Thursday. Palmeiras are now up to 10 points but maintained their seventh place position on the log standings.
Palmeiras returns to the field on Sunday and travel to face Bragantino in Bragança Paulista. Inter play on the same day against Bahia in Beira-Rio.
