On July 30, 2022, the Brazilian Women’s National Team was crowned champion of the Women’s Copa América. In the final game against Colombia, at the Alfonso López stadium, in Bucaramanga, Colombia, Debinha scored against the hosts to complete the Brazilian victory. In nine editions, Brazil lifted the cup eight times (1991, 1995, 1998, 2003, 2010, 2014, 2018 and 2022).
In the competition, the Canarinho had a perfect performance. There were six wins in six games, with 20 goals scored and no goals conceded, for the team led by Pia Sundhage. A year after winning, the coach is looking for the unprecedented title of the Women’s World Cup, in Australia and New Zealand.
Among the 23 summoned by the Swede for the World Cup, 15 were Copa América champions in 2022 (including substitute Tainara). They are: Luciana, Antonia, Rafaelle, Kathellen, Tainara, Tamires, Adriana, Ary Borges, Angelina, Luana, Duda Sampaio, Kerolin, Geyse, Debinha and Bia Zaneratto.

The journey to the final began with a 4-0 victory against Argentina. In the Brazilian debut, Adriana (twice), Bia Zaneratto and Debinha scored the goals. It was an announcement of Amarelinha’s dominance for the remainder of the tournament.
Uruguay was the second opponent and was no match for Brazil, who won 3-0, with goals from Adriana (twice) and Debinha. For the third game, Amarelinha surpassed the Venezuelans by 4 to 0. Bia Zaneratto, Ary Borges and Debinha (twice) scored for Brazil.
In the last confrontation before the semifinal, came another rout of Canarinho: 6 to 0 over Peru, thanks to the accurate aim of Duda Francelino, Duda Sampaio, Geyse, Duda Santos, Fê Palermo and Adriana.
To secure their place in the final, Canarinho faced Paraguay, beaten by Guerreiras 2-0. The goals by Ary Borges and Bia Zaneratto qualified Brazil for the final against Colombia, which hosted the Copa América.
In the 38th minute of the first half, Debinha scored the goal from the penalty spot that made Brazil shout “É Campeão” (we are the champions). It was the fourth goal for the number 9 shirt in the competition, which had Bia Zaneratto and Adriana as the other scorers, with 3 and 5, respectively.
