One of the highlights of Sanjoanense was Brazilian defender Luiz Neto. The young player, only 21 years old, was a starter and is having his first season as a professional. He is part of the club’s campaign, which currently holds the 9th position in Liga 3 in Portugal.
“I managed to adapt well to the league, the Portuguese championship is difficult and well balanced. So, I think it’s been a good individual season and I know I can keep improving. Being one of the youngest defenders to play in Liga 3 is a challenge and I think I’m maintaining a good performance despite my age,” said Luiz.

The player, who was developed at Vizela, a team in the first division of Portugal, spent a good part of his career in Europe, having also played for Nogueirense. His performances have caught the attention of some big Brazilian football teams, who have even shown interest in the player, as well as other European teams.
“Building my foundation in Europe from an early age was very beneficial, as I am already more adapted to the football here. I see many players who shone in Brazil but struggle a bit when they arrive here, so it was very important for me to come here early on. I know I am reaping the benefits of this choice.”
