The rumors of his appointment already made the rounds all through the week and has now finally come to an end
Mano comes with a good reputation as an ex-coach of the Brazilian national team and three-time champion of the Brazil Cup.
He signed a contract with Bahia until the end of 2021.
Mano will follow Bahia’s next outing against Grêmio, at the Pituaçu stadium on Thursday and will start work officially on Friday at Evaristo de Macedo.
In the last Brazilian Championship, the coach led Palmeiras to the group stage of the Libertadores by finishing in 3rd place. In 20 games, he lost only four and had a win rate of 63%.
Before that, he was in charge of Cruziero for 204 games, from September 2015 to August 2019, when Nacional was in the 13th round. Between the time-frame, he also spent six months at Shandong Luneng, in China.
When he arrived at Raposa five years ago, he not only freed the team from relegation, but led the celestial team to 8th position, with only two losses in 16 games played. On his return, in addition to two States, he won the Brazilian Cup in 2017 and 2018.
Mano also took once took charge of Corinthians. Altogether, he was ahead of Alvinegro for 248 games. In his second spell in 2014, he got a place in the Libertadores Cup. In the first, from 2008 to 2010, he won both the Copa do Brasil and the Campeonato Paulista in 2009, as well as the Serie B of the previous season.
The good results accredited Mano for the Brazil national team which he led from 2010 to 2012, with 40 games, 27 triumphs, 72% success rate and two titles of the Superclassico das Américas.
