Felipão, who had refused an initial invitation from Raposa, signed a contract until the end of 2022. The club will count on the help of a sponsor to pay the coach"s salaries.
The negotiations took place in Rio Grande do Sul, where Felipão lives.
Sérgio Santos Rodrigues and Deivid did not return from Atibaia with the Cruzeiro delegation this Thursday. José Carlos Brunoro, who worked with the coach at Palmeiras, also participated in the negotiations.
The expectation is that Felipão will lead the training next Sunday. Paulo Turra (assistant) and Carlos Pracidelli (physical trainer) will be at Mineirão to follow this Friday"s game, against Juventude for the 16th round of Series B.
The Cruzeiro project, with a long contract, will help Felipão to fulfill an old wish: to work in the field and then become a “manager". This is the job which he has longed for since he was hired by Grêmio in 2014.
"We don"t want this year alone. We want this year that is ending, we want 2021, 2022 and 2023. I will be with you giving everything I can give with my contribution of my knowledge, friendships and everything that the cruise gave me too. I count on you too – said the coach, in a video released by Cruzeiro"
Bem-vindo, Felipão! ⚪

Felipão will arrive at Toca da Raposa to replace Ney Franco who was fired last Sunday. On Monday, the coach refused the charge of the board, even though he claimed he wanted to return to work at this time.
