The player arrives in Timão for a contract valid until December 2023. He was a free agent after leaving Ligue 1 outfit Bordeauxwho owned his rights and Saudi-Arabian club Al-Hazm where he was on loan since January.

In the negotiation, Corinthians took 70% of the player’s economic rights.

The training week will indicate if the striker will be fit enough and ready to stake a spot on the bench against Atlético-MG next Saturday for the Brasileirão. He has already had his name published in the IDB (Daily Newsletter) of the CBF and that means he is at least eligible for selection already.

Corinthians saw Cafú as a good opportunity on the market. According to people from the club, the player already had the approval of former coach Tiago Nunes and his commission. However, the conditions to hire him became more appropriate only in this final stretch of the year due to the financial implications involved for all parties.

Current coach Vagner Mancini also wanted to sign the player considering his profile. In this way, Cafú arrives with the approval of the club’s technical commission. With his arrival, the club tries to supply the need for a quick attacker that can also play on the flanks, something that Timão has been searching for months and have not seen in any way.

Before CafúCorinthians had signed 12 other athletes in the year: Luan, Sidcley (today removed) , Cantillo, Davó, Yony González (later returned to Benfica) , Éderson, Jô, Léo Natel, Otero, Cazares, Fábio Santos and Jemerson

Many have already tipped Cafú to be a shrewd signing for Corinthians.
