After Mano Menezes stepped down as Bahia manager, Dado Cavalcanti was appointed as the new man to take over at the helm of affairs at the club.
A statement on the club’s website said read on Monday afternoon: “Back in the club at the end of October for the football department, Dado Cavalcanti will assume the technical command of the Squadron from Sunday’s game against Internacional at Fonte Nova.”
“The professional was the coach of the Transition Team (under-23) until the beginning of the pandemic, in March, when the project unfortunately needed to be stopped, and will work with assistants Cláudio Prates and Pedro Gama.”
Dado was appointed by Bahia in 2019 as the club’s under-23 coach in the Brazilian Aspiring Championship.
He led the team to the semifinals of the competition.
After the upset in the calendar due to the global pandemic, he left Bahia and joined Serie D side Ferroviária. After staying a while at the club, he departed in October and re-joined Bahia but this time as part of the club’s technical staff.
The focus for Dado now will be to get Bahia back to winning ways immediately and ultimately avoid relegation this season. Bahia are without a win in their last five league games and all of those matches ended in defeats.
They are level on 28 points with Vasco who are currently the first side on the relegation pecking order. Bahia are only ahead due to more wins so far.
