The world"s most expensive player was handed a two-match suspension after his involvement in an unseemly brawl at the end of PSG"s 1-0 home defeat by Marseille recently.
Without him, his teammates bounced back from losing their opening two games of the season and recorded successive victories against Metz (1-0) and Nice (3-0). With him back in the lineup, PSG have now taken their winning streak to three games.
The fixture was also the first time Neymar and Mbappe have both started a game for PSG this season.
Icardi was the star of the day and scored both goals for his side on the evening. He opened his account for the season in the ninth minute after being well set up by striker Kylian Mbappe. The Argentine forward then wrapped up his brace when he scored his second of the evening in the 62nd minute.
Brazil star Neymar"s goal drought continued when he missed a good chance late in the half. Mbappe created Icardi"s second goal midway through the second half and then missed a glaring opportunity of his own.
Neymar failed to score in three games during the Champions League"s final eight in Lisbon and has not yet netted in the league so far.
PSG climbed up to seventh place with nine points from five rounds. That"s four points behind leader Rennes, who have made the best start in the Brittany club"s history.
Up next for PSG is a home game against Angers on Friday where Neymar will fancy his chances of ending his goal drought.
