Neymar was back on the score sheet for PSG as they claimed a 1-0 win over Leipzig on home turf in the Champions League. The goal was a very important one as it restored Les Parisien’s hopes of qualifying for the round of 16. A defeat could have been critical and could have left PSG on the verge of missing out for a spot in the round of 16 and down to the Europa League.
For Neymar, it was his first goals in six Champions League games but that goal was enough to lift PSG to second place in the group and just three points behind first-placed Manchester United.
They are only ahead of Leipzig due to their head-to-head record.
It was a game where Leipzig were the overall better side and saw more possession and even created more clear-cut chances at goal. Dayot Upamecano sent a header towards the PSG goal in the 12th minute but saw his effort parried away by Kaylor Navas.
Amadou Haidara also had another chance in the 38th minute via a long-range strike but once again Keylor Navas was equal to the task.
Neymar and Mbappe were not at their clinical best on the occasion and the fact that PSG recorded only two shots on target the whole game pretty much summarized all of that.
Regardless, they won the game and secured a very crucial three point that mattered.
PSG will take on Manchester United at Old Trafford for their next outing in a game that could decide the top of the table in Group H.
