Figueirense didn’t really threaten and their chances to level the scoring only came in the final stages of the game. Evanilson lost a chance one on one with the goalkeeper.
Odair Hellmann’s men came out better in the second half but they were undone again soon enough.
In the 55th minute, the 39-year-old midfielder once again got on the score sheet. His shot from outside the box took another deflection and went in again.
The night was complete for Nenê when he got his hat-trick in the 81st minute via a penalty suffered by Yago Felipe. It marked a convincing victory for Fluminense too.
Nenê is now also the top scorer of the Copa do Brasil with six goals to his name. He took the match ball home.
With the result, Fluminense have now secured a spot in the fourth round of the Copa do Brasil. Their next opponent in the competition will be chosen by lot after the other games in the third round are completed.
