The transfer market is always full of twists and turns and this year was no exception. The latest headline news concerns the negotiations between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain for the transfer of Neymar. The Parisian club are considering selling the Brazilian star to renew their squad and Chelsea are ready to seize this opportunity.

Neymar had a disappointing season with PSG, marred by injuries and an early Champions League exit. At 31, he is one of the highest paid players in the world and the record €222m million transfer he cost to PSG in 2017 still makes him the most expensive player in history. However, Neymar’s recurring injuries have prompted PSG to consider parting ways with him this summer.

According to reports, Chelsea chairman Todd Boehly has traveled to Paris to meet Neymar and discuss the possibility of a transfer. Chelsea have already splashed out over € 356m in January, but the club are ready to make an offer for Neymar, according to the latest rumours from Mirror.

If Neymar ends up joining Chelsea, it could be a hefty addition to the squad for the Blues, who have already spent heavily in January. This, however, has been a complicated subject on the club. Recently, Thiago Silva made comments about it.

He said: “We have very good players now. But on the other hand, there are bound to be some who will be unhappy with their playing time. There will always be disappointed players, not everyone can play at the same time.”

Thiago Silva also indicated that to overcome this problem, the club had to “increase the size of the locker room, because it could no longer accommodate all the players in the squad.”
