After an epic night full of comebacks, deep disappointment and a lot of pain, the Brasileirão has finally come to an end and Abel Ferreira’s Palmeiras once again established itself as the best team in the country for the second consecutive year.

Porco achieved the two-time championship after drawing against Cruzeiro (1-1) in a match in which practically any result was enough for them to win the title, so, after finishing the match, Palmeiras shouted champion and the players celebrated in the center of the field. Despite the celebration and euphoria, a large part of the fans focused their attention on Abel Ferreira who, presumably, will leave the club at the end of the year.

The departure of Abel Ferreira seems to be a matter of time

According to the journalist specialized in the South American transfer market, César Luis Merlo, the Portuguese coach has been definitively tempted by Al-Sadd of the Qatari league, a team that has been following him for several weeks and has put him above the table a practically irrefutable deal.

According to this source, the coach would have already verbally agreed to his arrival at Al-Sadd, a club that would offer him the opportunity to become the highest paid coach in the entire world. Although the figure is not confirmed, some media speak of a contract that would allow him to earn almost 34 million dollars per year, which would mean almost 2.8 million per month. Their relationship would be for two years and the only thing left to do was finalize their departure from Verdão and sign the signature.

The Argentine media TyC Sports also continues these rumors, ensuring that in addition to the economic issue, the Qatari team offered to reinforce the team with world-class stars and that their sports project would be respected.

In principle, neither Ferreira nor any Palmeiras source has confirmed his departure, but the coach himself already left his continuity in doubt a little less than a month ago:

“I’ve had tough times here with my health. Not only my physical health, but also my mental one. I already said it in the last game and people don’t want to know it. I have to think about what I want, because football here doesn’t give anyone health.”
